MWA Closing Customer Service Lobby

August 26, 2020 by Chris Wood, Ph.D.

The MWA Customer Service Lobby at the Billingslea Headquarters Building on Second Street has closed again to reduce the risk of the spread of the Coronavirus and COVID-19.

The MWA has closed its Customer Service Lobby located in the Albert Billingslea Headquarters Building on Second Street, effective August 21, 2020, and until further notice. The closure is in response to growing customer concerns and recommendations by health care officials on effective ways to reduce the risk of potential exposure to COVID-19, by altering business operations.

However, the Authority’s onsite drive-thru at the Second Street Headquarters will remain open to serve customers between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

MWA Customers also have the option of making payments via the following methods: ACH, E-Bills, the Nightly Dropbox, or via the Authority’s Website Live Chat or Customer Self-Service Portal; plus, customers can call directly to the MWA Call Center at 478-464-5600, or access the IVR System at 844-517-9741. (Customers should have their account number available when using the pay-by-phone payment option.)

Thanks to recent efforts by the Authority to expand payment options even further, MWA customers now can pay their water/sewer bill at local Kroger and Walmart stores throughout Macon-Bibb, Houston, and Monroe Counties, by using the MWA’s new Quick Pay process. For more information, including a complete list of these MWA Authorized Payment Locations (APL’s), please visit the “Learn More” link below.

During the current pandemic and as a result of this most recent development, MWA customers may experience longer than usual wait times when contacting the Authority. We ask for your patience during this unprecedented time, as our top priority is the safety and health of our customers, employees, and the community.

This precautionary measure is intended to reduce the potentially harmful face-to-face interaction between MWA customers and employees while conducting daily business, such as processing bill payments or customer service applications.

Since this MWA Customer Service Lobby Closure – and other policy changes and adjustments during the pandemic – is a fluid situation, the Authority will continually reevaluate proactive and responsive actions to determine how best to protect the safety and welfare of customers and employees.

For more information on COVID-19 as it relates to the safety of your drinking water, please refer to the EPA website at, as well as the 2020 MWA Water Quality Report on this website.

For general inquiries, customers can email the MWA at, post questions on the Authority’s Facebook page, or call Customer Care at 478-464-5600.
