Mr. Javors Lucas was sworn into office by Probate Judge Sarah Harris on Dec. 28, as he gets ready to start his 35th year representing District 2 as a Member of the Macon Water Authority.

Two Members of the Macon Water Authority (MWA) Board who were re-elected to office in 2016 were sworn in recently to officially mark the start of their new terms in office.

On Wednesday, Dec. 28, Mr. Javors J. Lucas was sworn into office by Bibb County Probate Judge Sarah Harris. A week earlier on Tuesday, Dec. 20, Mr. Dwight Jones was likewise sworn into office. Mr. Lucas and Mr. Jones represent District 2 and District 3, respectively, on the MWA Board.

Mr. Lucas was first elected to the Macon Water Authority in 1982. His 34 years of service on the MWA are more than any other current board member, in addition to making him among the longest serving public servants in modern Macon history. He served 22 years as Vice Chairman alongside former MWA Chairman Frank C. Amerson, Jr. In 2006, the MWA dedicated the Town Creek Reservoir in his honor, by renaming it Javors Lucas Lake.

Mr. Jones joined the Macon Water Authority in Junes of 2014, after winning a special election to fill a vacated seat mid-term. His re-election this past year marks the beginning of his first full term in office.
