In addition, the Fishing Derby provides tangible evidence of the importance of protecting and preserving natural resources, including drinking water reservoirs such as Javors Lucas Lake.

The MWA Kids Fishing Derby is an annual event that is organized by the MWA’s Outdoor Recreation Committee through the Authority’s non-profit Macon Water Alliance, which was founded to provide environmental education for citizens of Middle Georgia as well as water resource focused assistance for MWA customers.
