Since an important responsibility of the MWA Laboratory/Environmental Compliance Department is to monitor streams and rivers for protection, the MWA monitoring process follows a Watershed Assessment and Protection Program and its assessment of the effects of sewer spills and overflows.

Environmental stewardship is one of the top priorities of the operations at the Macon Water Authority, primarily thanks to the work of the Laboratory/Environmental Compliance Department. This monitoring not only safeguards the families and citizens of Macon-Bibb County, but also protects local wildlife and natural resources for the enjoyment of future generations.
