Buildings and Grounds
Looking good takes a lot of effort, and the Building and Grounds department of the Macon Water Authority works every day to ensure that the facilities of the MWA look as good as they operate. The Building and Grounds Department is responsible for the up-keep and maintenance of all MWA Properties, which includes housekeeping, ground maintenance and all other building maintenance in order to keep the Authority facilities clean and presentable to the public eye.
Most in the public do not realize the effort that goes into maintaining an organization the size of the MWA. The Authority owns and operates five large properties, which the staff maintains. These are the Service Center, the Administration Building (which is over 38,000 square feet),
the Frank C. Amerson, Jr. Water Treatment Plant, the Rocky Creek Water Pollution Control Facility, and the Lower Poplar Street Water Pollution Control Facility. In addition to these properties, the Building and Grounds staff maintains the land at all of the lift stations, elevated tanks, and ground storage tanks owned by the Authority.
