The Macon Water Authority has tangible evidence of its excellent operations, facilities, and staff, reflected in the many industry awards garnered through the years.  Some of those accolades include:

Best Tasting Drinking Water in North America

The MWA was selected in 2009 as having the Best Tasting Drinking Water in North American, as a result of winning the "Best of the Best" Tap Water Taste Test as judged by the American Water Works Association.

AMWA Gold Award

The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) honored the MWA with its 2012 Gold Award for utility excellence. The Macon Water Authority is one of only four utilities in Georgia to receive this distinction to date.

 

Georgia Water Coalition's Clean 13

In 2017, the MWA was among the "Clean 13" Clean Water Heroes in Georgia, as selected by the Georgia Water Coalition for the utility's use of pipe lining technology to protect the integrity of the Ocmulgee River.

 

NACWA Environmental Achievement Award

In 2018, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) honored the MWA with its National Environmental Achievement Award for the utility's pipe lining project that helped preserve the integrity of the Ocmuglee River.

2019 Georgia Assocaition of Water Professionals (GAWP) Plant of the Year (Best Operated Water Plant) Award in the state of Georgia, in the category of surface water facilities with capacities greater than 50 million gallons per day (MGD). This is the 6th time the Amerson Plant has been selected as the Best in Georgia.
