Wastewater Operator Trainee
Pay Scale: Pay Grade 10
Job Summary:
Performs technical duties in the daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant by observing the operation of bar screens and grit chambers, clarifiers, re-circulation pumps, sludge pumps and other operating units to insure proper operation and guard against equipment breakdown. Performs maintenance and repair work to equipment in the operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
Essential Duties:
• Washes out the settling basins and reservoirs regularly
• Collects wastewater samples in order to conduct tests and prepares samples to be analyzed through complex testing
• Maintains records and prepares reports of laboratory results and data concerning the plant’s operation
• Monitor gauges, meters and control panels, observes variations in operating conditions
• Operates collectors, mixers, pumps, boilers, engines, generators and other equipment.
Job Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid Georgia Drivers License with a safe driving record.
• Candidates selected must obtain Class III Licensure within one year of employment.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequent walking.
• Ability to carry 50 pounds or more.
• Frequent standing, stooping and occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
• May occasionally require climbing and may involve traveling over various terrain.
• Ability to grasp and hold.
